News Releases and Public Information

Welcome to the Polk County Sheriff's Office News Room, where the Public Information Officers (PIO's) post all of the information that they release to the news media. PIO's act as liaisons between news media organizations and the Sheriff's Office. The PIO's routinely release timely and accurate information and Crime Stoppers bulletins, and respond to routine and "breaking news" media inquiries. News releases and Crime Stoppers information can be found on this page.

Haines City man arrested after bad behavior at Winter Haven bar

A fight was reported at AJ Slammers Lounge in Winter Haven on Friday, March 6th, at around 2:14 am.

When PCSO deputies arrived, no fight was occurring. However, deputies noticed one man walking away with blood on his nose. 

That man was identified as 35-year old Robert Stanley Jean, III of Haines City.

Deputies tried to make sure he was well, but Mr. Jean was uncooperative, refused to speak about the fight, and appeared heavily intoxicated.

Based on his suspected impairment, deputies tried to convince him to contact a designated driver to get him home. Instead, Mr. Jean attempted to enter into his own vehicle. Deputies refused to allow him get in his vehicle.

Mr. Jean became irate, refused deputies' orders to leave the property, and repeatedly threatened to do harm to the deputies.

Robert Stanley was arrested and taken to the Sheriff's Processing Center where he was charged with:Threatening a Public Servant (F3), Resisting without Violence (M1), Trespassing/Failing to Leave on Order (M1), and Disorderly Intoxication (M2).
